Six times to update your property content
Your photos, amenities, and room info are key to making your listing stand out in the busy Expedia marketplace. But when it comes to content, many partners “set it and forget it,” missing out on key opportunities to attract and inspire potential guests
Differentiate your property by taking advantage of six opportune times to refresh your content in Expedia PartnerCentral (EPC).
1. New Points of Interest
You can customize the attractions near your hotel any time on your desktop EPC or in the EPC app. Add new museums or restaurants near you, or highlight how close you are to a seasonal attraction, like an apple-picking farm or a holiday market.
If you’ve added a restaurant, remodeled your lobby, or sped up your WiFi, this is the perfect time to let travelers know. When Hôtel Pur Québec completed renovations last year, Director of Revenue Jean-Michel Painchaud uploaded new photos and added amenity info for the property’s pool and gym, and Expedia updated the listing information in 27 languages across all Expedia group sites. The changes yielded impressive results: “If we look at Expedia year over year, the uplift in conversion is amazing—the index is over 100%,” he explained.
3. Seasonal events
Do you offer rowing in the summer, or sleigh rides in the winter? Help your listing stand out by uploading photos specific to the season or your events. Partners asked us to make it easier to add, swap, and remove photos to respond to seasonal changes. We heard you, and it’s now easier than ever to update photos in the EPC app.
4. New photos
Whether you hire a professional photographer or capture a great sunset with your smartphone camera (in high resolution), don’t forget to share your latest images with Expedia travelers. When you upload your photos to EPC, your hotel will have a refreshed presence across Expedia, Hotels.com, Travelocity, and more. If you haven’t refreshed your photos in a while, check out Expedia’s advice on photos that perform best.
5. Content Score gaps.
We designed the Content Completion Score to help you discover missing information that could help your listing stand out. Check your score in EPC on the Property Details Overview page, and in your photo gallery, look for red “Low Resolution” tags on images that are too small.
6. Regular checkups
Painchaud recommends checking how your listing appears on Hotels.com and Expedia.com every few months. A quick spot check can reveal an opportunity to update outdated information and strengthen the impact of your listing.
