48 Hours in San Francisco

On a recent 48 hour trip to San Francisco I had the chance to play tourist, sit down and talk with our market management team, and most importantly hear directly from five of our partners about their relationship with Expedia and their use of Expedia® PartnerCentral. In this complex and dynamic market, our partners are looking to Expedia PartnerCentral and the data and insights available in Rev+ to help them stay competitive and achieve their goals.

Succeeding in a dynamic market

Here are some of my key take-aways:

  • Convention business is down about 30% this year.
    Hoteliers are challenged to fill their rooms and are looking to Expedia and the tools available in Expedia PartnerCentral to help them attract the leisure traveler. With Rev+, our partners are able to access public rate shopping data and market demand insights for the next 365 days, allowing them to identify opportunities and make quick decisions to help drive occupancy.
  • International business makes up about 30% of market share.
    It’s important for hoteliers to understand the true value of international travelers – they book further out and they tend to stay longer. With Rev+, our partners are able to shop by international points of sale and see how their pricing compares on a daily basis to their competitive set and identify when a fenced promotion could make their offering more appealing.
  • Smaller, independent properties have scarce resources.
    Hoteliers at small, independent properties tend to have responsibility for much more than just revenue, and they have little or no budget to support their efforts. Rev+ is FREE, with no sign-up or activation required. Our partners simply sign in to EPC to access real-time rate shopping data for up to 20 competitors. It really allows them to do their job in a much quicker and more efficient way.
